For those that have been following our blog but don't know about Golden Week, it's a week that has a series of Japanese national holidays including:
- April 29: Showa Day - the birthday of former Emperor Showa. This is a day to allow people to think back on the hardship and recover of the Showa period and to consider the future of Japan.
- May 1: May Day
- May 3: Constitution Memorial Day - the present Constitution of Japan came into affect on this day in 1947
- May 4 - Green Day (midori no hi) - a day to honor the environment
- May 5 - Children’s Day (Kodomo no hi) - celebration of young men and children
